Programme Advisor (1 year temporary position)

Since 2021 WWF-Norway has been funding and supporting the implementation of our Civil Society portfolio "Delivering on the SDGs for Nature, Climate and People" (SIVSA). Through this portfolio WWF-Norway seeks to engage governments, companies, and financial institutions to develop, adopt, and implement policies, investment standards and plans to guide the sustainable development of three key sectors - energy, fisheries and infrastucture.

WWF-Norway ensures implementation of this portfolio through partnerships with WWF country and regional offices China and six African countries (Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda and South Africa). Our aim is to build capacity within civil society organisations (CSOs) and partnering with them to engage key stakeholders in the energy, fisheries, and infrastructure sectors.

WWF is now seeking the services of a Programme Advisor for 1-year to support the implementation of two programmes within the SIVSA portfolio. The programmes are Africa Energy Transition (covering China, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Madagascar) and Africa Sustainable Infrastructure (covering China, Kenya, Tanzania and Madagascar). 

In their role, the Programme Advisor will be responsible for following up and supporting WWF country and regional offices that are responsible for the implementation of both programmes. In addition, the Programme Advisor will be expected to support the delivery of a final report to Norad (deadline of June 2026).

Responsibilities: 

• Support the implementation of the Africa Energy Transition (AET) and Africa Sustainable Infrastructure programmes (ASI) and the overall SIVSA portfolio.
• Support the delivery of a final report of the SIVSA portfolio.
• Communicate with WWF-Norway and collaborate with other WWF offices and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in environmental sciences, development studies, or relevant field.
• Experience in project management, budgeting, and project reporting. Specific experience in grant management within the development sector is considered an advantage.
• Broad knowledge of international environmental policy. Specific knowledge of either renewable energy deployment or infrastructure development in either Africa or other development contexts is an advantage.
• Flexible self-starter with great interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in cross-cultural environments.
• Location: Oslo 
• Fluency in English is a requirement. Fluency in Norwegian and/or another relevant language is an advantage.
